As discussed, the system software is used for managing and controlling the hardware and application software. Whereas, the application software is used for performing specific tasks such as video editing, image editing, document processing, etc.
The system software is installed on the computer at the time of installation of the operating system. Whereas, the application software is installed when the user needs it.
The system software will start running once you turn on the computer and it will keep running until you turn it off. The application software will run only when the user opens it and will close when the user closes it.
