Before anything else, we will like to tell you about the reason, and it is nothing else but the hot topic “COVID-19.”
Coronavirus pandemic has shaken most of the countries. Suddenly, out of the blue, the very first case of coronavirus was reported in Wuhan, China on 31st December 2019. And then as months passed the number and countries affected with nCOV went increasing and increasing.
The first death case due to novel coronavirus in India was recorded on March 12, 2020. And cases have been increasing from the past few weeks, from 16 to 52 and now 75 cases in total.
Looking at the rise of coronavirus cases, the Indian Government has suspended visas until the 15th of April. Yeah, they have few exception categories too, which includes diplomatic and employment.
Now, you might have got the idea, why IPL has been deferred. With the advice of government departments, BCCI has finally decided to delay the IPL due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The management of the IPL conveyed a message to the eight participating teams to have an in-person meeting about the delaying. There are many factors that made BCCI take this decision.
But before anything else, even if that is the decision it is for the Good only.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia said the Delhi government won’t allow any IPL matches or other events that will require the large gathering. He told reporters that avoiding large gatherings will only regulate the coronavirus outbreak, otherwise, it will keep spreading.
Even Maharastra’s health minister, Rajesh Tope voiced his opinion about the IPL being held in such a critical situation especially when WHO has also declared it as a pandemic.
“So the final decision could be the postponement of the IPL matches or have matches without selling the tickets, i.e., closed-door matches in front of empty stands.”
