Good news for the Night Owls, Google Chrome has recently added the dark mode to the Android version and so they can comfortably use it at night. They will be able to stare at their phones a little more comfortably now. This is helpful for the battery life too.
You must turn this feature on and check how it looks. This feature is still tested technically so there will be bugs for now. Today, Technographx has brought this article to make you know the steps for enabling this feature. Let us have a look at the steps.
For showing up the dark mode option in Chrome’s settings, you need to have the version 74 or higher running on your Chrome Android app. Check the version of the app and download the most recent update from the Google Play Store. After getting the latest update, follow the below-given steps for enabling the feature.
- Type “chrome://flags” into the URL bar in the Chrome app. This will take you to the flag settings of Chrome. You need to tweak the settings in order to see the dark mode option in Chrome’s settings.
- Now, tap the flag page’s search bar then search for “Android Chrome UI dark mode,”. This will help you to jump straight to the correct flag setting.
- Now, you have to tap the flag’s drop-down box and change the setting from “default” to “enabled”. After this, restart Chrome.
- Open the app again and tap the the-dot menu button. Go to Settings>Dark Mode. Now, tap the slider and Chrome will automatically swap to its new dark theme. If you are not able to see the dark mode setting then restart the app.
When the final version of the Chrome Dark Mode arrives, the feature will be easily seen on the screen and you won’t have to turn the dark mode on in this manner.
This mode is still technically an unfinished feature so not all pages display the dark theme. The search results still display with a white background as the dark mode is not completely developed. Certain text or page elements will still be displayed incorrectly with dark mode enabled.
These minor bugs will get fixed definitely in the final version. So, here was a brief overview of the Chrome Dark Mode Android. Use it when it is finally released!
