If you always wanted to download and share your favorite creators’ Instagram reels off-platform but weren’t able to do so because of the limitations imposed by the platform – we have great news for you!

On June 21st, 2023, Wednesday – Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced on his broadcast channel that they are rolling out a new feature with which US-based users will be able to download reels shared on public accounts.

However, you won’t be able to download reels shared from private accounts, and public accounts can disable this feature by going to your Account Settings. Users can save reels directly to their camera roll from the platform.

Please keep in mind that there is no specification of whether there will be watermarks or logos on the reels you download from Instagram. But if we look at the picture he has shared, we can see that the downloaded video will have the user’s account name along with the company’s logo.

You can download reels by tapping the share icon on a reel you like and selecting download.

It is interesting to note that the platform has recently introduced new reel editing updates to help creators make the most of their creativity. This new update includes split, speed, and replace features.

Another interesting feature update to downloading reels from the platform is the rolling out of Instagram broadcast channels globally, along with the “collaborators” feature. This new collaborator feature will allow creators to invite other like-minded and inspirational creators and fans to participate in their broadcast channel.
